Shaadi Season Diet Plan: Weight Kaise Control Karein? (Easy Tips)

Short answer: a good shaadi season diet plan doesn't ban biryani. Eat normal meals during the day, have a small snack at 6–7 pm, fill half your shaadi plate with tikka, kebab or salad, take one naan, and walk the next morning. To lose weight before a shaadi, start 4–8 weeks early and aim for 0.5–1 kg a week.
Most weight gain in shaadi season comes from a few habits, not from one plate of biryani: staying hungry all day, eating a huge dinner at 11 pm, going back for seconds, and having cold drinks and mithai at every function. Below you'll find simple weight loss tips, a smart plate guide and a sample Pakistani diet chart for shaadi days.
Why does weight go up in shaadi season?
From November to February, many Pakistani families have a function almost every weekend: mayun, mehndi, baraat and walima, often in the same week. A few things add up:
- Dinner comes late. Khana is often served at 10 or 11 pm, so people arrive very hungry and eat fast.
- Bhooka rehna "to save space". Skipping lunch before a shaadi usually makes you eat more at night, not less.
- Rich, oily dishes. Biryani, qorma, karahi and naan are cooked with lots of oil or ghee, and the portions are big.
- Mithai and cold drinks at every event. Gajar ka halwa, kheer, gulab jamun and cold drinks add a lot of sugar without filling you up.
- Routine breaks. Late nights, less sleep and no walking for days.
The good news: each of these has a simple fix.
Shaadi ke din kya karein? (before you go)
- Don't skip meals. Have your normal breakfast and lunch. Include some protein, like eggs, daal, chicken or dahi.
- Eat a small snack around 6–7 pm. A fruit, a handful of chanay, or a cup of dahi stops you from arriving starving.
- Drink water before the khana. In one study, adults who drank about 500 ml of water before meals lost more weight over 12 weeks than those who didn't (Dennis et al., 2010).
- Decide your "one treat" in advance. Pick the one dish you really love, enjoy it, and go lighter on the rest.
Shaadi ki plate kaise banayein? (smart plate)
Walk around the buffet once before you serve yourself. Then build your plate in this order:
- Half the plate: salad, raita, chicken tikka, seekh kebab or fish tikka.
- A quarter: biryani or pulao, about one serving spoon.
- A quarter: qorma or karahi, mostly the meat, less of the oily gravy.
- One naan, not two. Or skip the naan if you are having rice.
| Heavier choice | Lighter swap | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Two naan with qorma | One naan, more meat, less gravy | Less oil and refined flour |
| Fried fish or chicken | Tikka or seekh kebab | Grilled, not deep fried |
| Biryani as a full plate | One spoon biryani + salad | Same taste, smaller portion |
| Cold drink | Water or plain lassi without sugar | Cuts liquid sugar |
| Halwa, kheer and gulab jamun | Pick one dessert, small bowl | You still enjoy dessert |
These are general swaps. Exact calories depend on the recipe, oil and portion size.
Tip: eat slowly and put your plate down after the first round. Wait 10 minutes before deciding on seconds. Often you'll find you're already full.
Raat 11 baje ka khana: kya karein?
A late dinner is normal at Pakistani weddings, so plan around it:
- Have your 6–7 pm snack so the late meal doesn't turn into a feast.
- Keep the late plate smaller, especially the rice and naan.
- Skip the chai and mithai round after dinner if it's already past midnight.
- If you can, take a short walk at the venue or once you get home. Breaking up sitting with light walking helps lower the rise in blood sugar after meals (Buffey et al., 2022).
Mehndi, baraat, walima ek hi hafte mein hon to?
One heavy night won't undo your progress. A whole week of heavy nights can. Use the day after each function to balance things:
- Next-day breakfast: something light and filling, like eggs with one roti, or dahi with fruit.
- Lunch: daal or sabzi with one roti and salad. Keep it simple.
- Move: a 20–30 minute walk, even if you slept late.
- Water: drink more, especially after salty food like karahi and biryani.
- Sleep: catch up on rest when you can. Tired people tend to snack more.

Shaadi se pehle weight kam kaise karein? (4–8 week safe plan)
Whether you're the dulhan, the dulha, or a sister who wants to fit into a new jora, start early.
- Aim for slow, steady loss. The NHS suggests losing about 0.5–1 kg a week (NHS). In 6 weeks that can be 3–6 kg, which is a real difference.
- Avoid crash diets. Losing weight very fast raises the risk of gallstones (NIDDK), and most people gain it back quickly. Living on fruit and water before the shaadi also leaves you weak and tired on the big day.
- Cut liquid sugar first. Cold drinks, packaged juices and very sweet chai are the easiest calories to remove. The WHO advises keeping free sugars below 10% of daily energy (WHO).
- Protein at every meal. Eggs, daal, chicken, fish, dahi and chanay keep you full for longer.
- Watch the ghee and oil. Use less oil in home cooking and skip the extra ghee on roti and daal.
- Walk every day. Start with 20–30 minutes and build up.
- Track for a few weeks. Writing down what you eat shows where the extra calories really come from.
Mithai aur cold drinks ka kya karein?
You don't have to say no to everything. Try these:
- One dessert per function, in a small bowl, and eat it slowly.
- Share a gulab jamun or a plate of halwa with someone.
- Swap the cold drink for water. A cold drink is mostly sugar and doesn't make you feel full.
- Say "bas, shukriya" politely when an aunty insists on a second helping. Taking a small portion first makes this easier.
When should I talk to a doctor?
If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or kidney problems, or you take medicine for any of these, ask your doctor before changing your diet or fasting before a function. Late, heavy, salty meals can affect blood sugar and blood pressure. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, don't try to lose weight without your doctor's advice.

Frequently asked questions
Kya shaadi mein biryani kha sakte hain agar weight loss kar rahe hain?
Yes. Take one serving spoon of biryani, add salad and raita, and skip the naan. Portion size matters more than avoiding the dish completely.
Shaadi se pehle kitne din mein weight kam ho sakta hai?
A safe pace is about 0.5–1 kg a week. If you start 6–8 weeks before the shaadi, you can lose a few kilos without a crash diet.
Kya shaadi wale din bhooka rehna chahiye taake raat ko zyada kha sakein?
No. Skipping meals usually makes you overeat at night. Eat normally during the day and have a small snack around 6–7 pm.
Shaadi mein sab se kam calories wala khana kaunsa hai?
Grilled items like chicken tikka, seekh kebab and fish tikka, plus salad and raita, are usually lighter than fried dishes, qorma gravy, naan and mithai.
Weight loss ke liye diet plan kya hona chahiye?
A simple weight loss diet plan has three regular meals, protein at every meal (eggs, daal, chicken, dahi), lots of sabzi and salad, one or two rotis instead of three or four, and very little sugar, cold drinks and fried food. Eating a little less than your body needs, every day, is what leads to weight loss.
Shaadi se pehle pet kaise kam karein?
You can't lose fat from only your stomach. When you lose weight overall with a healthy diet plan and daily walking, belly fat goes down too. Cutting cold drinks, mithai and fried snacks, and sleeping well, helps the most.
Shaadi ke baad weight wapas kaise kam karein?
Go back to regular meals, cut cold drinks and extra mithai, add protein at each meal, and walk daily. Don't jump into a crash diet; slow and steady works better.
